30 year celebration
HATW Volunteers and staff

We are so grateful to all those who came to the event in November at Bridges Community Centre, Monmouth, and to those who volunteered their time to help make it a success. The event was well attended by our supporters and also attracted considerable new interest from local people, with more than 130 people coming in total, and over £1,500 raised.

There was a constant flow of people buying teas, coffees and cakes, lots of chatter at tables and much interest in the “30 stories for 30 years” exhibition. The batik workshop operated at capacity for the whole event, with people making marvellous designs. The African drumming was popular for all ages and again was well attended for the whole afternoon. The raffle attracted lots of attention and we are hugely thankful to all the local businesses and individuals who donated prizes.

The highlight was the new Hands Around the World film. When it was played the room was packed full of people, and we are delighted to say that it was very well received, and prompted many conversations about our work. We would encourage you to watch it if you haven’t seen it already, and to share with friends and family.
