Hello everyone my name is Joel KWIZERA I am Hands Around The World volunteer in Rwanda. I am Rwandese.
I first met Hands Around The World volunteers in 2010 at GS ST Paul Muko School where they came to support the constructions of 5 classrooms. I was working at the neighbouring construction site. I had to work to generate money for my school materials and for my mother who was diabetic. After a deep discussion they agreed to support my education from S4 up to university education. Now I am a secondary teacher at GS ST Paul Muko where they found me in 2010.
After all they have done for me I decided to become a volunteer as well to try to give a hand to those who need it.
How do I do this?
I support a number of activities of Hand Around The World here in Rwanda, such as painting, mobilizing others to become volunteers, coordinating different works and I took initiative of running virtual London Marathon to help raise money to HATWJ (HANDS AROUND THE WORLD JERSEY ). It’s my third time and this time I managed to raise 600 pounds. I have the dream of giving a hand to many people that I could reach, and I am sure I will. Because I am in education sector, I meet with many children who need a hand.

I am proud that I am a volunteer. I don’t want to stay in my area only I want to reach out in Africa volunteering and helping others. I want to send my special thanks to Mike Haden and Dennis Spencer, HATW volunteers and trustees who taught me the reason to live life for others.
I was once helped. Why can’t I help others????
Mr. KWIZERA Joel.
