My name is Bebeto Malambo, a fifth year medical student at Mulungushi University in Zambia.
I grew up with a lot of hardships due to the passing of my father in 2005. I attended school and Mom was helping where she could even though she wasn’t getting paid enough until I managed to complete my secondary school. Then I had started doing piece of works as bricklayer until Dr David Steiner (founder of HATW) and Mr Killian found me in mud trying to sustain a living. Dr D Steiner and Mr Killian asked me who I really wanted to be and I told them I wanted to be a doctor. They took down the notes and few days later, they called me and told me to apply in the school of Medicine. I applied and showed them my application letter. They joined hands together, everyone in HATW really made sure I had everything I needed and took me to school in 2019 September.
As I am writing this in May 2024, I am in my fifth year of my career. I really want to thank HATW for believing in me, giving me this opportunity. Without HATW, I wouldn’t be here.
