Kaliyangile is a vocational training centre in Chisamba near Lusaka in Zambia.
Up to 20 young people attend tailoring and literacy classes as well as learning agricultural and animal husbandry skills including bee-keeping.
What is HATW involvement?
Starting in 2004, HATW volunteers helped construct classroom and toilet buildings and subsequently sourced funds to provide some running costs and equipment including tools, sewing and knitting machines to develop the work. These days the centre is substantially self-sustaining with chickens, eggs, pigs, flour milling and the sale of crops providing income.
A wide range of skills from teachers through craft workers to agricultural skills and smallholders as well as encouragers.
